Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani handed over his resignation to Governor Acharya Devvratas on Saturday and said he was ready to take on the new responsibilities offered to the party. Resignation is in line with the team's policy of giving all team members an equal opportunity. Gujarat is expected to go to the polls in 2022.

When Rupani went to meet the governor, he was accompanied by Baratiya Janata Party general secretary Nitin Patel, according to local media reports.

Rupani spoke to the media and announced his resignation without explaining any reasons for his decision. BJP has not yet replied on his resignation.

Thanking PM Modi, Union Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah and the people of the country for giving him the opportunity to contribute to the development of the state, Rupani said he was ready to play the new role the party saw fit.

“I have resigned as prime minister of Gujarat. I was offered a five-year contract with the government. I will continue to do whatever my team asks, ”said Rupani.

Rupani arrived in Raj Bhavan shortly after Prime Minister Modi opened Sardardham Bhavan in Gujarat in Ahmedabad and conducted a ‘boom pujan’ of Sardardham Phase-Kanya Chhatralaya (girls hostel) through a video conference.

According to local media reports, Baratiya Janata Party general secretary BL Santhosh is also based in the country. Navari MP and Gujarat party leader R Paatil also held a series of meetings with Santhosh, the parties reported.

On Thursday, Union Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah arrived in Ahmedabad for a visit, the Gujarat BJP leader told PTI news. Shah was reportedly expected to leave on Friday night. "He arrived in Ahmedabad for some reason and will return to Delhi on Friday morning," a BJP leader familiar with the development of Shah's visit told reporters.

Thanks & Regards
