Learn your credit / debit card number by Jan 2022 - YP Buzz

If the RBI has its own method, a CVV number alone may not be enough to make an online transaction. The central bank plans to force customers to enter all of their card details ie name, 16-digit number with expiration dates, and a CVV for all online payments, to try to obtain card details. The new rules are likely to come into effect in January 2022, according to media reports.

Revised rules will mean that every time someone buys on Amazon and Flipkart, pays via Paytm and Google Pay, or renews a Netflix subscription, the information will have to be re-entered.

Adding details to everything you do can be a daunting task, especially for those with more than one card. But by preventing payment aggregators like Google Pay and PayTM, and commerce websites like Amazon and Flipkart from storing customer card information on their servers and data, the new rules will ensure customer safety and data security.

E-commerce merchant sites and payment gateways currently store customer data on their servers and use the database to verify and approve transactions, with CVV (card verification value) and one-time password (OTP) only required.

The CVV number or card verification code is a 3-digit credit card or bank card, while the 16-digit number is a debit card that is printed and printed on the front of the card.
