With great relief for the students of more than seven lakhs, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has decided to raise funds for the 2021-22 academic year by 50 percent. The circular issued by the varsity will benefit students while they are pursuing further studies.

As claimed by an order Passed by the SPPU, the reduction in fees will depend on the different facilities offered by the college and not used due to the Covid-19 epidemic. Major reductions include 50 percent in library, laboratory, gym, extra study center and computer. A student who has lost one or both parents as a result of Covid will be completely exempt from the payment. Those who cannot afford to pay the full amount will be given the opportunity to pay it in installments.

“An appeal was given by the state Department of Higher Education for a decrease in tuition fees for this running academic year. Accordingly, a proposal for approval was sent before the university's governing body. The team created under the chairmanship of Sudhakar Jadhavar gave the report to Vice-Chancellor Prof Nitin Karmalkar and approved the report. ”Said SPPU registrar Prafulla Pawar.

Students, especially those from rural areas, welcomed the decision. Santosh Kadam, a second-year science student, said, “We have lost a lot in the farming business and we have not been able to pay this year's fees. Fundraising assistance was provided by the university. I will borrow money from relatives and pay slowly. I am happy to continue my studies and will not have to take the gap. ”

Thanks & Regards
