IT regulations will ensure that the communications environment is safe and reliable in India, Vaishnaw said.


“The implementation of the Information Technology Act, 2021 and our partner Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar ji has been reviewed. These guidelines empower and protect users and will ensure that the communication system is secure and accountable in India, ”Vaishnaw said in Koo's post, which competes with Twitter in India.


The new rules, which came into effect on May 25, have called on all social media to establish a mechanism for grievance redress and compliance, including the appointment of a resident grievance officer, a law enforcement officer and a memorized contact person. All must be Indian citizens.


The Department of Technology and Information Technology has also asked the forums to submit monthly reports on complaints received from users and action taken. The third requirement was that instant messaging apps make arrangements to follow the original author of the message.


Whatsapp also pointed out that the need for mediators that allows to identify the first founder of information in India by the government or by court order puts the final encryption and its benefits "at risk".


Last week, WhatsApp told the Supreme Court of Delhi that it would not block the operation of its messaging system if a user did not comply with its latest privacy policy, and that it would maintain this approach at least until the Data Protection Bill. the result. It said it would not force Indian users to accept the policy.


Some media houses have also challenged new IT rules and the matter will be adjudicated.
