For the Indian public, traditional wear is the most happening thing and the most used one too. The fascination for traditional wear is to a great extent. The traditional wear term is a broad concept which comprises of many formats. Ethnic wear happens to be an alternative name for traditional wear. The traditional wear suits all age groups irrespective of the body position and structure. Briefing for Men, kurtas, sherwani, dhoti, pajamas, etc and many more while saree, lehenga,salvar kameez define the traditional wear for women.

Women Traditional wear comprises of -
Saree - Saree is the first preferred traditional outfit of women for special occasions like weddings and festivals. The width for an Indian saree varies from 2 to 4 feet and the length is around 5 to 9 yards. It is the most graceful ethnic outfit. Saree is wound around the body with the one end tied around the waist and another end is called 'pallu' draped over the shoulder.

Lehenga Choli - It is a dress that is long and has a cut and flared skirt. a tightly fitted blouse is paired along. It is also known as Lehenga. the long Indian skirt wore by an Indian woman. In Lehenga Choli, the blouse, long skirt, and dupatta is the most popular Indian outfit. The shara is worn with Kurti and one or more dupatta, it is usually worn on weddings.

Salvar Kamiz - It includes a range of pajamas and Salvar which are tightened at the waist & ankles. Salvar Kamiz also includes a long scarf or shawl called dupatta around the neck or head. It is a traditional Indian wear for women and it is highly popular in Punjab so it is also is known as 'Punjabi Suit'. In Afghanistan and Pakistan salwar kameez is worn by both men and women. The meaning of 'Kamiz' word is a long tunic. There are a variety of shape and size in Kamiz and modern Kamiz have various type of cuts also.

Dhoti - Dhoti is unisex wear can be carried on well by men as well as a woman. The length of dhoti is around 5 yards and is unstitched. Dhoti is famous by some other names also like panache, Chandra, mardana. Dhoti is the most antique Indian outfit invented by the ancient Antriya which passed through the leg tucks and cover the legs loosely. It is one of the most comfortable outfits worn by both men and women in India.

While Embroidery can be used to design fabrics -
Phulkari embroidery - it comprises of flower motifs on fabrics. Generally, it is in format for housewives to use the time to be constructive as this is a kind of reverse mechanism wherein the design happens on the reverse side of the fabric so the design is formed on the front side of the fabric. Hand-spun or natural dyed khadi cloth is used as a medium of fabric.

Chinkara embroidery - Introduced by nur Jahan the wife Mughal Emperor Jahangir from Lucknow while the art was promoted under the Mughal empire. Block printing is used for creating chikan piece and the final finishing is provided by washing the product.

Zardozi embroidery - the land of Persia emerged the zardozi patterns. Zardozi is the costliest work in and around as it comprises the use of silver or chopper or gold threads. Zardozi is the outfit format used for royalty and its the most preferred outfit format for the Indian brides. It is a type of embroidery in India, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc.
